The White & Green Ribbon in Sweden means that you travel under your own power from Grövelsjön in Dalarna to Treriksröset in the very north, or vice versa. The journeys can be done year-round, and the color of the ribbon indicates which season the journey was completed. Consideration for the environment, climate, mountain landscape, people, and animals is a guiding principle and a given, as is following the right of public access and all applicable rules.
NOT A COMPETITION
The White & Green Ribbon is not a competition, and there is no time limit, except that the journey must be completed within the same season. The route and method of travel are decided by the traveler, with the exception of certain areas that must be passed to the west and the requirement that the journey must be non-motorized. The use of dogs, kites, or similar is allowed and will be registered as such a variant.
AN EXPERIENCE FOR LIFE
The challenge requires both physical and mental strength, as well as common sense and safety awareness. The level of difficulty should not be underestimated. Beyond the set criteria, it is up to each traveler to complete the journey based on their own conditions. It is the adventurer’s own journey, which contributes to making the Ribbons a fantastic experience for life.
THE SMALL ORGANIZATION
The White & Green Ribbon is run part-time by a passionate trio from western Jämtland. The founders Torkel and Annica Ideström from Östra Vålådalen, along with Sara Wänseth from Undersåker, are the ones pulling the strings.
